As a Christian therapist, I see every individual as created in the image of God, which gives them inherent worth and value.
The spirituality of my clients is given value as an essential aspect of their being, along with physical and psychological aspects, which are all intertwined. I will inquire about a person’s religious affiliation and the role their faith plays in their life.
When a person’s spirituality is important to them, it often naturally weaves into counseling, informing questions and particular subjects to explore and process together.
I may look at a passage of Scripture together with a client during a session if it is relevant. I use prayer before or after sessions to pray for clients and to pray for the Holy Spirit to work through me.
